Fulltime

About Client Partner

Our client partner is a leading engineering solutions provider and panel manufacturing enterprise in Sri Lanka. Specializing in electrical power distribution, low voltage (LV) switchboards, distribution boards, and industrial automation systems, the organization delivers high-specification engineering solutions for commercial, industrial, and infrastructure developments. They offer a technically driven, collaborative environment for experienced electrical design and estimation engineers.

About the Role

We are seeking a precise, detail-oriented Engineer / Assistant Engineer – Design & Estimation (LV Switchboards) to lead design development, cost estimation, and technical documentation for low voltage switchboards and power distribution systems. In this position, you will collaborate with cross-functional engineering and production teams, draft CAD schematics, calculate material and labor costs, liaise with component suppliers and consultants, and ensure 100% compliance with industry standards and client specifications.

Responsibilities

Design & Schematics Development: Develop detailed engineering designs, single-line diagrams (SLDs), control schematics, and structural layouts for LV switchboards and distribution boards using specialized CAD software.
Cost Estimation & Quotation: Prepare comprehensive cost estimations—including raw materials, switchgear components, labor, and overheads—to generate accurate client proposals and project budgets.
Vendor & Principal Coordination: Liaise with component manufacturers, principals, and suppliers to obtain component pricing, evaluate technical submittals, and negotiate favorable commercial terms.
Design Verification & Compliance: Conduct rigorous reviews of design documentation and schematics to ensure 100% compliance with relevant international electrical standards, safety codes, and project specifications.
Client & Consultant Interaction: Engage directly with clients, electrical contractors, and consulting engineers to clarify project requirements, present design proposals, and integrate client feedback.
Cross-Functional Execution: Collaborate with manufacturing, assembly, and quality control teams to incorporate engineering changes and oversee design execution on the shop floor.
Variance & Quality Control: Maintain high precision in cost estimation to achieve a cost deviation target of no more than 5% between estimated and actual project expenditures.

Requirements

Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or NDES, NDT, HNDE diploma qualifications), Business Administration, Marketing, or Finance / Management Accounting.
Years of Experience: Minimum 5 years of dedicated experience in design and estimation within the power panel, switchgear, or LV switchboard manufacturing sector.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD design software (AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent), single-line diagram creation, switchgear component selection, and BOQ estimation.
Commercial & Analytical Acumen: Strong understanding of cost structures, pricing models, vendor negotiations, and financial metrics in panel building.
Core Competencies: Excellent communication, presentation, analytical problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
