Join #Ensiteam! 🚀

At Ensitech, we are a custom software development company with more than 19 years of experience delivering high-quality technology solutions.

Our client operates a leading real estate data platform serving over two million homebuyers and real estate investors across the US. The platform processes comprehensive housing and economic datasets across thousands of ZIP codes and counties, spanning decades of historical data. They have also developed highly accurate proprietary housing forecasting models.

The company is growing and looking for a hands-on Backend Developer to take ownership of backend data systems and GCP infrastructure.

The Role

This is primarily a backend and data engineering role, but not a backend-only position.

You'll work across Python services, APIs, ETL pipelines, BigQuery, production jobs, and the infrastructure that turns raw housing data into fast, reliable information for millions of users. You'll also make frontend changes when needed, using React, Next.js, TypeScript, and AI coding tools to take features all the way to completion.

You should understand the full system: Data ingestion/processing -> storage -> packaging -> serving (API) -> frontend -> production

Backend and data engineering will remain your primary responsibility, but we want someone capable of taking a feature across the finish line rather than stopping after the API is complete.

What You'll Own

Python backend systems and APIs
ETL and data-processing pipelines
Advanced SQL and BigQuery workloads on large historical and geographic datasets
Scheduled jobs, queues, background processes, and asynchronous workflows
GCP infrastructure: Compute Engine, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, monitoring, and load balancing
How data is precomputed, packaged, cached, compressed, and served efficiently
Debugging across source data, pipelines, databases, APIs, infrastructure, and the user-facing app
Performance, reliability, scalability, and monitoring
Frontend changes in React / TypeScript, using AI tools to build components and connect them to backend systems
Selected features end-to-end, from technical planning to launch, analytics, and iteration
A typical feature architecture: data pipeline -> database -> API -> frontend launch -> PostHog analysis -> iteration

Must-Haves

Strong professional experience with Python backend development and APIs in production
BigQuery and advanced SQL, with large datasets
Google Cloud Platform in production environments
ETL and data pipelines
Asynchronous and background processing
Data architecture, system design, performance optimization, and debugging
Enough React, JavaScript, or TypeScript experience to work productively inside an existing frontend codebase
Daily use of AI coding tools (Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot)
Strong English communication – have daily standups and daily 1:1s with the CEO
Git and modern development workflows

Nice-to-Haves

PostHog or other product analytics tool
Experience with geographic or time-series data
Experience with caching and data packaging for high-traffic applications

This Role is Not a Fit if

Your experience is mainly in data engineering without building APIs or backend services
Your backend work has been mostly CRUD applications without large-scale data
Frontend is your strongest skill set
You don't need to be a frontend specialist. Backend, data engineering, and GCP should clearly be your strongest skills.

AI-Native Development

Our client actively encourages tools like Claude, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot. You should be comfortable using AI to understand unfamiliar code, troubleshoot bugs, write tests, refactor systems, and build or modify frontend features without needing a separate frontend developer for every product change.

Product Ownership

This is not a ticket-closing role. For some projects, you'll own the feature through completion: backend logic, data pipeline, API, frontend, deployment, and post-launch measurement. Shipping the code is not the finish line. You should care about whether users actually use the feature, whether it performs well, and what to improve next.

Working Style

Hands-on: you'll write code, investigate bugs, deploy solutions, and troubleshoot production systems yourself.
40 hours/week with consistent availability during Central Time business hours.
Close collaboration with the CEO and dev team through daily standups, brief daily 1:1s with the CEO, and ongoing communication.
Proactive communication: if something is blocked, behind schedule, unclear, or risky, raise early and recommend a solution.

Location

Remote. LATAM-based candidates preferred (UTC-5/UTC-6 ideal), as the role requires consistent alignment with Central Time. Exceptional candidates elsewhere may be considered if they can fully commit to Central Time hours.
