JOB DESCRIPTION

Team Description

The Mobile SDK team at Pendo is responsible for developing and maintaining the Pendo mobile product, focusing on our mobile SDKs for iOS and Android. We work closely with the internals of both platforms, integrating with various mobile frameworks like React Native, Flutter, MAUI, and CMP. Our team is dedicated to ensuring the highest quality of the SDK through rigorous automation and maintaining efficient release pipelines. We also collaborate closely with customers to deliver the best possible mobile experience, ensuring their success with our product.

Pendo's mobile SDK allows businesses to collect detailed analytics and visual session replays on user behavior within their mobile applications without extensive coding. This data helps them understand how users interact with the app and enables the delivery of targeted in-app messages and guides on top of the app to improve user experience and drive product adoption.

Role Responsibilities

AI-enabled development: Use AI coding tools such as Cursor and Claude Code as a core part of your daily workflow. You will apply strong engineering judgment, review rigor, and accountability to AI-generated code just as you would to your own.
Develop and Maintain SDK Features: Design, implement, and maintain new features for the Pendo SDK, ensuring seamless integration with the broader mobile product.
Work with Internals: Dive deep into OS internals to optimize performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the SDK functions smoothly across all supported devices and OS versions.
Develop Different Mobile Frameworks: Contribute to the development of the SDK across various mobile frameworks, such as Flutter, React Native, MAUI, and CMP, ensuring compatibility and performance.
Ensure Code Quality: Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code with a focus on quality by developing unit tests, implementing automated testing, and participating in code reviews.
Support International Customers: Provide technical support and solutions to international customers, addressing issues and ensuring their success with the Pendo mobile SDK. Adequate English proficiency to lead a conversation, guide customers, and troubleshoot issues live is required.
Collaborate with Cross-functional Teams: Work closely with product managers, designers, customer-facing teams, and other engineers to align on goals and deliver the best possible mobile experience.
Contribute to Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in team discussions and initiatives to improve processes, tools, and practices, ensuring the SDK remains at the forefront of mobile development.
Apply Engineering Judgment to AI Output: Rigorously review and validate AI-generated code before it ships, ensuring it conforms to the SDK's conventions and defensive-coding patterns, and handling customer data and logs in line with company privacy and data-handling policies. A single defect in the SDK can affect thousands of host applications, so AI output is held to the same bar as hand-written code.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Related Field, or Equivalent Experience: A solid educational background in computer science or equivalent practical experience.
3-4+ Years of Experience in either iOS or Android App Development and/or Mobile SDK Development, including 2+ years of experience of development with Objective C or Kotlin: Proven expertise in developing mobile applications or SDKs, with a deep understanding of development practices using either Objective C and Swift, or Java and Kotlin.
Passion for Mobile Development and Learning New Technologies: Enthusiasm for staying up-to-date with the latest trends in mobile development, and flexibility in working with different frameworks and development environments.
Strong English Verbal Skills and Service Awareness: Excellent English communication skills and a customer-centric approach, enabling effective technical support for international customers.
Excellent Communication and Collaboration Skills: Ability to collaborate smoothly with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams, ensuring clear communication and efficient project execution.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Mobile SDK Development: Prior experience in developing and maintaining mobile SDKs, with a focus on native iOS or native Android.
Proficiency in Mobile Frameworks: Hands-on experience developing in mobile frameworks such as Flutter, React Native, Xamarin Forms, and MAUI.
Deep Understanding of Internals: Strong knowledge of internals, including performance optimization, memory management, and working with different OS versions and devices.
Experience with Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD): Familiarity with setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications or SDKs.
Knowledge of Mobile Security Best Practices: Understanding security principles in mobile development ensures that the SDK meets industry data protection and privacy standards.
Hands-On Experience with AI-Assisted Development Tools: Practical, day-to-day use of AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) within a professional development workflow, including the judgment to know when to rely on AI output and when to verify, correct, or reject it.
