Construction Estimator (Part-Time, Telecom Infrastructure)

Employment Type: Part-time, Independent Contractor

Work Model: Remote

Work Hours: US Business Hours overlap required

A US-based telecom infrastructure construction contractor is hiring a part-time Construction Estimator to review incoming bids, analyze the market, and prepare bids for the project management team.

About the role

The company receives a steady and growing flow of bids and RFPs, and its project managers do not have enough time to dig into the details of each one. You will take the first pass: read the bid documents, analyze line items against the market and past bids, and prepare a summary and a potential bid. You then sit down with the team to review it together. This is a partnership role, not a hand-off of the whole process. The role is part-time for the foreseeable future, and it could grow into a larger role if it proves valuable.

Required Qualifications

Experience estimating or bidding in telecom construction
Market analysis experience, including understanding individual line items and whether pricing is competitive
Ability to review bid and RFP documentation and summarize it clearly
Familiarity with the US construction market and US bidding
Working proficiency with AI tools for research, with the judgment to verify results rather than rely on automated output

Preferred Qualifications

Experience researching bids and past bid outcomes
Experience with CRM tools (the team can teach its own system)

Responsibilities

Review incoming bids and RFPs and pre-analyze them before final review
Analyze line items against market pricing and previous bids, including which bids were approved
Summarize and prepare potential bids for the project managers
Go through bid details with the team in review sessions
Use AI tools to support research, not to replace estimating judgment

Who thrives in this role

Detail-oriented, the kind of person who reads every line item
Analytical and comfortable questioning whether a price is competitive
Collaborative, and happy to review work in a back-and-forth with the team
Clear in written English, able to summarize complex bid documents
Careful with sensitive company information
