Social Media Manager

Employment Type: Full-Time, Independent Contractor

Work Model: Remote

Work Hours: US Business Hours alignment (EST/EDT)

A digital media brand in the health and wellness space is hiring a Social Media Manager to run its organic social presence, with Instagram as the main channel.

About the role

You will own the day-to-day of the Instagram account: planning the content calendar, writing the copy, checking every post before it goes live, and talking with the community. You will work closely with the design and video team and with editors to turn well-researched wellness reporting into posts worth saving and sharing. Once Instagram is running smoothly, you will find simple ways to extend winning content to other platforms.

Responsibilities

Own the Instagram content calendar from start to finish, covering roughly 20 to 30 pieces of content per week: 8-10 in-feed posts, daily Stories, and branded partner content
Keep a runway of two to three weeks of ready-to-publish posts, planned around editorial moments and expert collaborations, with space left for timely content
Write captions and on-image copy for statics, carousels, Reels, and Stories in a friendly, knowledgeable, research-grounded brand voice
Move each post through briefing, asset prep, copy, approvals, scheduling, and publishing in Notion and Later, with careful pre-publish checks on copy, citations, tags, and design
Build statics and carousels in Figma using brand templates
Create branded partner content for the feed and Stories, including interactive Story sets with polls, stickers, and link CTAs, delivered on brief and on deadline
Manage the community daily across Instagram and YouTube comments, Stories, and DMs, and share audience signals with the team
Track the wellness creator landscape and social trends, and pitch new formats and series to test
Report weekly on what worked, what did not, and what to test next, with saves, shares, and follower growth as the main measures of success
Over time, build simple workflows that repurpose top Instagram content for Facebook, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn, and Pinterest

Required Qualifications

2 to 4 years running organic social for a media brand, publisher, or consumer brand, with Instagram as the main channel
Clean, human-sounding copywriting for captions and on-image text, with a sharp eye for typos and small errors
Working knowledge of Instagram Insights and Later, and the ability to explain why a post performed the way it did, not just that it did
Self-directed: you decide what to post next without waiting to be told
Comfortable moving fast on trends and testing new versions of content instead of posting once and moving on
Uses performance data to decide what to do next
Able to work full-time US Eastern hours, remote

Preferred Qualifications

Up-to-date knowledge of which wellness creators are growing, which formats are working right now, and which trends have already peaked
Experience with Notion and Asana
Genuine interest in health and wellness and in the audience that follows it

Who thrives in this role

Steady and dependable in a daily publishing rhythm, without letting quality slip
Collaborative with designers, video creators, and editors, and open to feedback
Patient and warm when replying to community comments and DMs
Energized by quick experiments and fast feedback loops
