Our client is seeking a hands-on Senior Network & Infrastructure Engineer to operate and improve enterprise networks supporting a biotech manufacturing site and, where required, other group locations.

Your responsibilities:

Operate and improve firewalls, switches, routers, WLAN, VPN, DNS, DHCP, IP addressing and network monitoring.
Maintain IT/OT segmentation, VLANs, routing, firewall rules and controlled connectivity for manufacturing, laboratory and monitoring systems. Implement approved access controls such as 802.1X without assuming process or equipment ownership.
Investigate incidents, performance issues and vulnerabilities; work with cybersecurity colleagues on secure configuration, firmware, logging and technical remediation.
Identify critical dependencies and single points of failure. Improve redundancy, configuration backups, recovery runbooks and network resilience; contribute to network disaster-recovery planning and exercises.
Deliver approved changes, upgrades and migrations with impact assessments, testing, rollback arrangements and agreed production maintenance windows.
Maintain network diagrams, asset inventories, configurations, access procedures and traceable change and incident records. Share knowledge and protect privileged credentials and sensitive network information.
Provide network expertise for virtualisation platforms and server/storage connectivity, coordinate vendors and review proposals, and act as an escalation point for service desk and local IT.
Support infrastructure qualification, audits, GxP change control and computerised system validation where applicable, working within delegated authority with QA and system owners.

Your profile:

A technical qualification in IT, networking or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; ideally at least five years of hands-on enterprise networking experience.
Strong practical knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, VLANs, routing, switching, WLAN, DNS/DHCP, NAT, VPNs and troubleshooting, with experience in enterprise firewalls, monitoring, log analysis and secure network access.
Experience with manufacturing/OT networks or comparable production-critical environments. Pharmaceutical or life-sciences experience is advantageous.
Understanding of high availability, network recovery and the networking dependencies of VMware vSphere or comparable platforms, including server and storage connectivity.
Awareness of GxP, CSV, data integrity and controlled change is desirable. Sound documentation, security practices and a methodical approach to operational risk are essential.
English and German at B2–C1 level are required.

What to expect:

Based in Fischamend, with regular on-site attendance and one day of home office per week.
Collaboration with IT, Engineering, Production, QA, cybersecurity and external providers.
Agreed out-of-hours maintenance and on-call support where required; the scope and arrangements are to be agreed.
