The Information Technology Industry Council (ITI) is the premier advocacy and policy organization for the world's leading innovation companies. ITI is seeking a Director of Events to manage the strategic development and implementation of all ITI events and programming. This position is located in Washington, DC with flexible telecommute options.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Public Affairs, the Director of Events is responsible for the logistics and planning of tech policy events that advance ITI’s advocacy and communications goals. This lead events role for ITI uses his/her expertise in both virtual and in-person policy-oriented environments to create an impactful event program that reaches new and existing audiences. The incumbent has strong event and speaker management skills and an ability to work with numerous stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Lead the development of the ITI events program in collaboration with other internal stakeholders and teams and external partners.
Design event programming.
Determine and manage event needs and budget; negotiate with venues, consultants, and vendors.
Responsible for speaker management.
Develop pre-event briefings, manage day of event execution, and lead post-event evaluation and surveying.
Manage planning and logistics including attendee registration, venue identification, food and beverage, audio-visual needs.
Manage event platforms for online registration and virtual event production, promotion on ITI website, and on-site oversight to ensure excellence in execution.
Develop event marketing strategy including drafting and sending email marketing materials like invitations, reminders, webcast notices, and post-event surveys.
Work with others internally to grow event audiences.
Identify, cultivate, and grow relationships with external event partners.
Stay up to date on policy priorities, industry trends, and event innovations.
Produce high quality events and work consistently to improve the overall impact of ITI events for the association and its members.
Support other communications, member relations, and marketing activities.

Required Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field
Minimum of five years of experience in a policy-oriented event /meeting planning role
A strong track record of planning and executing successful policy or related events
Experience creating and cultivating strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Experience with speaker management
Expertise in both virtual and in-person policy environments for high-touch, small- to mid-sized events
Experience working in a non-profit organization/association is preferred
