Location: Hybrid-working. Working from office and home, with travel to London and other regions required for meetings

Barnardo’s, which works to protect, support and nurture the UK’s most vulnerable children, is seeking a Director of Fundraising and Marketing to strategically lead a talented fundraising, brand and marketing team and join an amazing organisation which supports over 300,000 children and young people.

Barnardo’s enjoys a rich and proud history as a charity which has consistently upheld and promoted the interests of children for over 155 years. Their 791 services transform the lives of the most in need or at risk children and young people all around the UK, whether that’s helping those who have been sexually exploited, those leaving the care system, children seeking mental health and wellbeing support, or families struggling to cope.

The role of Director of Fundraising and Marketing will provide leadership and direction on all aspects of the fundraising, brand and marketing strategy and will hold budget responsibility in fundraising of £45 million across all voluntary income streams. Reporting to the CEO, the role is a member of the Corporate Leadership Team and will spearhead innovative fundraising and marketing to fuel sustainable income growth for the charity. Barnardo’s aim is to be the most supporter centric and innovative team in the sector, making it the lifelong charity of choice for millions of people.

The ideal candidate will have an outstanding track record of developing and implementing fundraising strategies, encompassing a broad spectrum of fundraising and related marketing activity. You will also have demonstrable experience in establishing, monitoring and achieving demanding fundraising financial targets in the not-for-profit sector and be successful at managing change at a strategic and operational level.

You will be a creative leader who thrives on inspiring, building and managing teams and a strategic thinker who has the ability to devise and translate strategy into clear, actionable plans. Finally, you will be a natural communicator, able to build strong stakeholder relationships across departments and directorates, internally and external to the organisation.
