If you’re a Game of Thrones buff, you were probably also thrilled when House of the Dragon came out last month. And so far, to put it lightly, with each new episode releasing weekly, it’s SIMPLY BLOWING OUR MINDS!

(Can we take a moment to soak in how magnificent Rhaenyra Targaryen looks?! Okay, moving on)

So, we decided to mix up recruitment with this new HBO fantasy to create something GOT-themed for you recruiters who love the show.

Let’s hop straight into it!

House of the Dragon Characters Who Would Make Exceptional Recruiters

1. Viserys – The Dedicated Targaryen

King Viserys Targaryen, the current ruler of the Seven Kingdoms and the fifth Targaryen king to sit on the Iron Throne, is fiercely loyal, just, and dedicated to his family and kingdom. He has a strong sense of duty and a desire to protect and care for others.

Viserys is more interested in peace and stability than in power or glory. He would rather rule peacefully than engage in the constant war that Daemon, his brother, craves.

Undoubtedly, these traits would make Viserys a dedicated and fair recruiter. He would be very fair to his clients and source only the top quality candidates for them. He would vouch for diversity and inclusive hiring and help set up a system that kills unconscious bias at its root.

2. Rhaenyra – The Confident Targaryen

Rhaenyra is King Viserys Targaryen’s firstborn child. She is a natural leader, ambitious, strategic, and innovative, always looking for ways to enhance her position and expand her power. She knows she can be THE QUEEN of the Seven Kingdoms and is certainly not afraid to speak her mind.

Rhaenyra would make a very confident recruiter— one who’s always sure of the next step.

Although her creative side would help her overcome roadblocks like a champ, her bluntness would make her an honest communicator— someone who’d always be utterly transparent with candidates and clients.

3. Daemon – The Strategic Targaryen

Daemon is King Viserys Targaryen’s younger brother and assumptive heir (or so he believes).

If we were to describe Daemon Targaryen in a few words, we would definitely say he’s bold, daring, impulsive, and spontaneous. The small council collectively agrees with this!

But, most importantly, he’s a master of strategy and manipulation.

His bold and daring side would allow him to take risks in business and give him the confidence to make crucial decisions. He’d always have a plan in place, be great at problem-solving, and would get the damn things done!

4. Alicent – The Compassionate Hightower

The closest friend of Princess Rhaenyra and Ser Otto Hightower’s daughter, Alicent, grew up in the Red Keep. She is compassionate and caring and also somewhat of a people-pleaser. She also likes to be in control of situations.

Her deep care and compassion for others would allow her to be open-minded during candidate interviews and add to that human element in recruitment.

Her desire to like and be liked would allow her to put in the effort to create a positive candidate and client experience.

5. Otto – The Analytical Hightower

Ser Otto is the Hand or lead advisor to King Viserys, loyal to both his King and the realm, and the father of Alicent Hightower. He is intuitive, logical, and analytical. He doesn’t act impulsively or without thinking things through.

Otto is composed, serious, and forward-thinking. The traits he possesses would make him a leader in the recruitment industry. His extreme planning and plotting would ensure no flaw in his hiring process.

He thinks long-term, meaning his focus wouldn’t just be on the position to fill at hand. He would build strong and steady relationships with clients and candidates, creating a flourishing recruitment business and a blooming multigenerational candidate pool.

Each character in this series is so powerful in their own extraordinary way. Most of them would fit into the recruitment world so well that it’s almost sad that recruitment wasn’t as prominent of a profession in their era as it is today.

Is there any other character you think should fit into the top 5? Let us know in the comments.
