Boolean Search is an advanced type of search feature available in many ATS systems, It allows you to use the three Boolean Operators ‘AND’, ‘OR’ and ‘NOT’ to quickly find the candidates you’re looking for.
Using ‘AND’ in a Boolean Search will give you search results which will contain both words in the search term.
Example: If you were searching for a candidate who has 5 years of experience & also has an MBA degree, you would type: 5 yrs ‘AND’ MBA.
Using ‘NOT’ will remove one category of search results. ‘NOT’ is often used when one category of search results are likely to show up that the user would like to be excluded from the search.
Example: If you were to select a candidate who has 5 years of experience and does not hold an MBA degree, you would type: 5 yrs ‘NOT’ MBA.
Using ‘OR’ will result in the broadest category of search results, as this Boolean Operator gives results where either of the terms exists.
Example: If you were to select a candidate who has 5 years of experience or has an MBA degree, you would type: 5 yrs ‘OR’ MBA
