Job summary:
We're looking for a Cost Accountant to track and analyze product and production costs at [company name]. The right person understands standard costing and inventory accounting and works well with operations teams.
Cost accountants show the true cost of making products. Accurate costing improves pricing, margins, and decisions about production and inventory.
Key responsibilities:
- Maintain standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead in [the ERP system].
- Analyze cost variances and explain them to operations and finance.
- Value inventory and run monthly inventory reconciliations.
- Record inventory and cost of goods sold entries during month-end close.
- Support physical inventory counts and cycle counts.
- Calculate product margins and support pricing decisions.
- Allocate overhead costs using approved methods.
- Track scrap, waste, and production efficiency data.
- Prepare cost reports and budgets with plant managers.
- Follow US GAAP for inventory accounting, including lower of cost or net realizable value (or lower of cost or market, for LIFO and the retail method).
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

- Knowledge of standard costing and inventory accounting.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.
