Job summary:

We're looking for a Mining Technician to operate equipment and support drilling, blasting, and extraction at our [surface mine, underground mine, or quarry]. You'll run machinery, inspect work areas, and help the crew move material safely and on schedule. The right person follows procedures closely, works well in a team, and puts safety first.

Mining technicians do the hands-on work that keeps production moving. Safe, steady operation of equipment and work areas protects the crew and helps the site meet its daily targets.

Key responsibilities:

• Operate mining equipment, such as drills, loaders, haul trucks, and dozers, as assigned and trained.
• Help with drilling and blasting, including loading holes under the direction of a licensed blaster.
• Inspect work areas at the start of each shift and report hazards before work begins.
• Scale loose rock and install ground support, such as rock bolts and mesh, where required.
• Complete pre-shift equipment checks and report defects.
• Follow lockout/tagout, ground control, and PPE rules under MSHA regulations [or the Mines Regulations 2014 or Quarries Regulations 1999 (UK), state mine safety laws (AU), or the Mines Act 1952 and DGMS rules (India)].
• Record production, equipment hours, and delays on shift reports.
• Keep haul roads, benches, and work areas clean and safe.
• Lift and move tools and materials of up to [50] pounds ([23] kg).
• Support maintenance crews with basic servicing and repairs.

• High school diploma or GED [or GCSEs, a Year 12 certificate, or a Class 12 pass], or equivalent work experience.
• [X]+ years of experience in mining, quarrying, or heavy equipment operation.
• Current MSHA Part 46 or Part 48 miner training [or the site induction and competency training required by local mine safety law], or ability to complete it before starting work.
• Blaster certification [or shotfirer competence (UK), a shotfirer licence (AU), or a DGMS blaster's certificate (India)], where the role includes blasting.
• Ability to work [day, night, or rotating] shifts in outdoor or underground conditions.
• Ability to pass a [pre-employment drug and alcohol test and medical check], where permitted by local law.
