Job summary:

We're looking for a School Nurse to care for students and staff at [school name or district]. The right person handles daily health needs, manages chronic conditions and medications, and responds calmly to emergencies.

School nurses keep students healthy, safe, and in class. Good care and accurate records reduce absences, support students with health needs, and keep the school in line with state health requirements.

Key responsibilities:

• Assess and treat student illnesses and injuries, and decide when to send students home or to emergency care.
• Give daily and as-needed medications following physician orders, district policy, and state law.
• Write and update individualized healthcare plans for students with asthma, diabetes, seizures, and severe allergies.
• Train staff to use emergency medications such as epinephrine auto-injectors, inhalers, and glucagon.
• Track immunization records and follow up on vaccines required for school entry.
• Run state-required vision, hearing, and other health screenings and refer students for follow-up.
• Keep health records in [the student information system or school health software].
• Take part in 504 and IEP meetings for students with health needs.
• Respond to medical emergencies and help lead the school's emergency response plan.
• Teach students and staff about hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
