Job summary:

We're looking for a Metallurgist to improve recovery, throughput, and product quality at our [processing plant or concentrator]. You'll run testwork, track plant performance, and solve process problems in crushing, grinding, flotation, leaching, or other circuits. The right person is analytical, practical on the plant floor, and focused on results.

Metallurgists turn mined ore into saleable product. Small gains in recovery or throughput add large value to the operation, while good process control keeps the plant safe, stable, and within its permits.

Key responsibilities:

• Monitor plant performance, including throughput, grade, recovery, and reagent use, and act on changes.
• Run metallurgical testwork, such as grind, flotation, or leach tests, and use the results to improve the process.
• Prepare daily, monthly, and annual metallurgical accounting and mass balance reports.
• Troubleshoot process problems with operations and maintenance teams.
• Plan and track improvement projects, and measure their effect on recovery and cost.
• Use process data systems and models, such as AVEVA PI, JKSimMet, or METSIM, to analyze and improve circuits.
• Work with the assay lab to keep sampling and analysis accurate.
• Support safe handling of process chemicals, such as cyanide or flotation reagents, in line with site procedures and the International Cyanide Management Code, where it applies.
• Support tailings and water management with the environmental team.
• Follow site safety rules under MSHA regulations [or the Mines Regulations 2014 or Quarries Regulations 1999 (UK), state mine safety laws (AU), or the Mines Act 1952 and DGMS rules (India)].

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical, Chemical, Mineral Processing, or Materials Engineering.
• [X]+ years of experience in a mineral processing plant or metallurgical lab.
• Working knowledge of comminution, flotation, gravity, or leaching circuits.
• Experience with metallurgical accounting and mass balances.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with process data systems.
• Current MSHA Part 46 or Part 48 miner training [or the site induction and competency training required by local mine safety law].
