Job summary:

We're looking for a School Bus Driver to take students to and from school, activities, and field trips safely and on time. You'll drive assigned routes, inspect your bus before and after each run, and keep order on board. The right person is patient, calm under pressure, and puts student safety first.

School bus drivers are often the first and last school staff students see each day. Safe, reliable transport helps students arrive ready to learn and gives families confidence in the school or district.

Key responsibilities:

• Drive assigned morning, afternoon, and activity routes on schedule while obeying all traffic laws.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including brakes, lights, stop arm, and emergency exits, and report defects before driving.
• Walk the full bus after every run to check that no student is left on board.
• Load and unload students safely using the stop arm, warning lights, and crossing procedures.
• Stop, look, and listen at railroad crossings and follow all required crossing procedures.
• Set and enforce bus rules, and report behavior issues and incidents to school staff.
• Help students with disabilities board safely, including using wheelchair lifts and securement systems where needed.
• Run emergency evacuation drills and respond to breakdowns, accidents, and weather delays.
• Keep in contact with dispatch by radio and report delays, route changes, and safety concerns.
• Complete daily logs, mileage records, and inspection reports.

• Commercial driver's license (CDL) [Class B or C, depending on bus size] with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements [or a Category D or D1 licence with Driver CPC (UK), a bus licence with state driver accreditation (AU), or a heavy passenger motor vehicle licence (India)].
• Clean driving record for at least the past [3 to 5] years.
• Current DOT medical examiner's certificate or state-required physical [or the local medical fitness check for bus drivers].
• Ability to pass a fingerprint background check [or an enhanced DBS check (UK), a Working with Children Check (AU), or police verification (India)].
• Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing, including a Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse query where required.
• Availability for split-shift hours, with morning and afternoon routes.
