Systems Administrator

Job summary:

We're looking for a Systems Administrator to run and secure [company name]'s servers, cloud infrastructure, and core services. The right person manages Windows and Linux systems, automates routine work, and keeps systems available.

Systems administrators keep the company's core systems running. Stable, patched, and backed-up systems prevent outages and data loss and protect the business from security threats.

Key responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server and Linux servers.
  • Manage virtual machines on [VMware, Hyper-V, or Proxmox] and cloud resources on [AWS or Azure].
  • Manage Active Directory or Entra ID, group policies, and access permissions.
  • Apply operating system and application patches on a regular schedule.
  • Set up and monitor backups and test restores.
  • Monitor server health and uptime with tools such as [Zabbix, Nagios, or Datadog].
  • Automate routine tasks with PowerShell, Bash, or Ansible.
  • Harden systems using CIS benchmarks and respond to security alerts.
  • Maintain system documentation, diagrams, and runbooks.
  • Take part in an on-call rotation and lead fixes for system outages.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • [X]+ years of experience in systems administration.
  • Strong experience with Windows Server and Linux.
  • Experience with virtualization and at least one cloud platform.
  • Scripting skills in PowerShell or Bash.
  • Microsoft, Red Hat (RHCSA), or AWS certification preferred.
