Job summary:

We're looking for a Hydrologist to study surface water and groundwater for [industry, e.g. environmental consulting, mining, or government] projects. The right person collects and models water data, writes clear technical reports, and supports permitting and water management decisions.

Hydrologists help organizations use and protect water responsibly. Accurate analysis supports permits, reduces flood and contamination risk, and keeps projects in line with water regulations.

Key responsibilities:

• Plan and run field programs to measure streamflow, groundwater levels, and water quality.
• Install and maintain monitoring wells, data loggers, and stream gauges.
• Analyze hydrologic data and build models using tools such as [HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, or MODFLOW].
• Map watersheds and aquifers with GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro.
• Assess flood risk, water supply, and the effects of projects on water resources.
• Prepare water balance studies and support stormwater and drainage design.
• Support permits and reports under the Clean Water Act and [State] water rules.
• Write technical reports and present findings to clients, regulators, and project teams.
• Check data quality and keep accurate field and lab records.
• Follow field safety procedures, including work near water and in remote areas.

• Bachelor's degree in Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Geology, Civil Engineering, or a related field; master's degree preferred.

• Experience with hydrologic or groundwater modeling software.
• Proficiency with ArcGIS and data analysis in Excel, Python, or R.
• Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Hydrologist (PH) credential [or CIWEM or Geological Society chartership (UK), or RPGeo (AU)], if required by [State].
• Valid driver's license and ability to do field work in varied conditions.
